I have written about this particular little dilly a few times here in my blog. Maybe more than a few and even several. I think it is the coolest most important landmark in the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati area. I mean if you look at the image for the link to my photogallery, you will see the Rabbit Hash General Store, and not even THAT surpasses our UFO house. I'm not kidding either. Since I was a kid this place inspired my dreams. When I worked at NKU I would take new International students on lunch tours to see it and either get white castles or cheese coney's for lunch. My children have seen this house up close more than I ever did as a child. I would try to finagle at least a drive by in the area. The kids tended to always be on my side.

Mom on the other hand isn't really impressed. I think it became more an annoyance to her for us to go by. I know my dream of someday buying that house and moving it by helicopter to my own property was never realistic, was less than a dream but a pipe dream. However, I do worry that Joee and Gio will never remember having seen it with us moving to South Texas for good.

Then there is my latest dilemma. Steph and Matthew are in for one day only on the 28th. I am sure we will see them again in Texas but not in Northern Kentucky unless there is a funeral. And, lord knows THAT is NOT an appropriate time to take someone to see the house. See, Matthew has never seen it at all. And although I am sure if I dug in my heals I could get to drive him down there to see it but I'm not sure. I know its awfully weird but that house is important to me and its unimportant to me that those who I take to see it think it is pretty "neat" too. I think I would be rather hurt if I took someone and the felt I had wasted their time. So there in lies my dilemma as I stated before. Do I dig in and ensure he gets to see it or do I save my pride and keep my dreams intact? Its a tuff one I tell ya. I do know that Mary said Steph and Matthew were going to drive down to Rabbit Hash. So, maybe thats more Stephani's place and the UFO house dies with my leaving to Texas.


The upshot is that whatever happens , because I have been blogging so infrequently of late, They will likely have come and gone before anyone even reads this so it won't effect the outcome either way.

I love my kid. I love her Matthew too. I miss them both so very much. I'll miss them more on Thanksgiving when I can't see them here in my home. The funny thing is Its bittersweet. I know they will be having there own Thanksgiving celebration and we will be having ours. I know we all be thankful for what we have. But I get to be happy and thankful in anticipation, because my kid and her Matthew will some day give us some of these. So in the end it will be worth it all.

Off the topic, but we have a new behavior issue with our youngest, Giovanni. It appears he has decided to take a stand of solidarity with the guinea pigs. He walks over, rips the top of the cage off and climbs in to sit with the guinea pigs. When he is forcibly removed from the cage and sent on his way he doesn't whine. Instead he waits for us to start reassembling the cage and then he proceeds directly to the OTHER cage, rips the top off and climbs on in.

He just illustrated his ingenuity again. He drug a bucket of cat litter over next to my chair. He then climbed up on the bucket and then into my lap. From my lap, he climbed up onto the desk and is now standing with his fists on his hips surveying his domain like some king out of a children's book. Maybe we should cut back on reading time or at least be more selective in what we are reading to him. Perhaps just some books on colors and numbers.

I am SUCH a lucky dad!

Hoo Yeah! Things are moving right along.
• Caterer - Scheduled and paid.
• Wedding Cake - Steph doesnt want one. she wants every one to bake Betty Crocker brownies and bing them in the pan instead. (thats NOT a joke).
• Wedding dress yup thats done.
• Girls dresses - being made by Sister Shelton (Yay Diane!)
• The reception - locations scheduled and confirmed.
• We do have to buy the drinks and cups.
• Invitations - The should have gone out today as far as I know. There are a couple of people we are straggling on because we can't get in touch with them for addresses.
• Itenerary for the day - NOT!!!!!!
• Photographer - we have a couple of things going for this.

So things are moving right along.

Oops. Due to circumstances beyond our control (or at least that I don't know the details of), Stephani and Matthew's wedding date has been changed from April 25th, 2009 and moved back to May 30th, 2009. Other than that al other arrangement such as time of day fo wedding and reception, and locations remain the same. So, I suppose you can take the extra time to think happy thoughts, save up more money and buy bigger gifts? Just kidding. No need to think happy thoughts.

Stephani's Matthew won Nationals this week. 1st place in Nationals WOW! He built this Lego tower for me as an entry. Isn't it cool that I was the inspiration for something this cool? I mean really, it's awesome. I feel pretty special I tell ya what. Now Stephani Thinks that he didnt build it for me. In fact, she actually says that he didn't build it at all. In fact she says that he wasn't even at a LEGO building convention at all. I think she is just jealous. Matthew is going to ship this tower home to me so I can play with it. I will have so much fun and Stephani will just be jealous. I mean she is getting to Marry him soon and he can build her all the LEGO skyscrapers she wants. Mary says I am nuts. But I think she is just jealous too. Everyone is just Jealous of me. I am such a lucky guy.

Well, I admit it, Matthew isn't ACTUALLY going to send me the skyscraper. And, He didnt actually build it. In fact, He wasn't even at a LEGO Nationals competition/convention. He did in fact win 1st place at Nationals in Las Vegas though. It was a competition for Corporate construction managers. And his project presentation was the best of the best of the best. However, since I don't have any pictures from the competition and I actually don't know much about the real competition...and since I think LEGO skyscrapers are totally cool (especially this one), well I decided to just pretend and have fun. It is a cool skyscraper. you can read more about the people who actually made it and why, right here. And you can watch a time lapse video of the construction of the skyscraper below. It is really cool and has a very neat soundtrack.

There are many people in the world(duh!), Each ofus has something cool about them. For instance Stephani has a head the size of the recently discovered Planetoid - Sedna(We won't mention stephani's tail.) And, Katie can annoy tall buildings in a single bound. Brontë runs JUST like Jan Brady. Nyoka has really strange feet. Mik has a gene simmonsesque tongue. Joee is NOT a good hairstylist. And Gio? Well he can clear a room in 3 seconds flat with a toxic diaper. Mary, well she is the queen mother of all nap intruders. Me, I have an 11th toennail that I refer to as my mutant superpower( sorry no pic). And after listing all these meany (but silly and inytended to be funny not hurtful) things I get to my point. STephani's Matthew has something special. He is colorblind. A called and asked him what type he had (shows ya how smart I am. I didnt even know there WERE types until I found this website.) and he said it is Deutanope. I still think it is pretty cool. I mean all I got was an eleventh toenail, bipolar, and a weak sense of humor.


OK in all fairness, I have to speak up. None of these things are really as drastic as I imply. Steph's head isn't as big as Sedna the new planetoid(maybe just a small asterooid.), Gio doen't clear the room, and Mary is isn't the evil ender of all naps(ok well maybe that one is a little true.). My point here is that I am just poking fun at everyone else to get around to talking to Matthew. Oh and by the way his mom is supposed to be sending a CD of pictures of him for me to post in the albums. these will be pics of Matthew as a child, teen, etc.
